Hi Guys,
I have pacemaker extractors and just running a 2.5" pipe after the 2 resonators... sound like a V8 but has a raspy noise when you give it to her, any ideas to resolve this whilst trying to keep it sounding similar to a V8 without making it quiet. I have euro 3 cats, Reading Alot and hearing from exhaust specialists i believe high flow cats wouldn't have been that great plus adding alot more of a raspy horrid sound,
maybe another resonator? or small muffler? any thoughts? i was also told the raspy sound is from the cats being moved forward under the car but couldn't do much about that as the originals were too big
cheers Toby
The only way to stop that awful raspy note is to keep the cats in the original position and keep the two original resonators that are under the front. Some extractors require the cats to be moved back and aftermarket ones fitted, this will make the exhaust note raspy.
Not much you can do I'm afraid, you can try a big resonator on the rear, it will deepen the note but will also make it a bit quieter.
Does it have to sound like a v8? Everyone knows its a v6 because of the badges.

More importantly you will never get a true V8 sound out of a V6 anyway. V6's can sound great in their own right, getting rid of the raspiness of the alloytec goes a long way to getting a real nice sound out of them. My exhaust has zero rasp, no drone and sounds brilliant under load at WOT. CHE FTW!!!

It is somewhat debadged, none the less obviously its not a v8 but it sounds mean and thats the sound i'm hoping to keep, everyone has different prefferences of what they believe sounds good and what doesn't, but it sounds good for a v6 just wanting to get rid of the raspy sound, although its not as bad as some ive heard, on a positive it has no drone lol,
torana how much difference did you notice with the vcm tune and diff gears? and what sort of prices were you paying for them?
cheers
Personally I love the rough raspy crude note.

I had the tune done first, it made a big difference especially down low though to the midrange as most of the torque management is removed. The diff gears made an even bigger difference, Best mod ive done to the car by a long shot. The car now does the 0-100 in about 6.8 seconds. The tune was $880 and the diff gears were $1000 including a full rebuild of the diff.

Sounds like new diff gears are the best $1000 you could spend on an sv6something il definatley look at getting done once my wallet fills itself back up again!
