Post hand brake pads replacement on vz one tonner

Hi guys have looked all over this site for a how to change handbrake pads on my vz one tonner 2004 alloytech? just wondering if anyone can help me at all? Because i went to my local holden dealer and they wanted to charge me$570. in labour plus $115 aside for the pad kits and said it was quite a large job.
I am fairly mechanically minded and have an decent workshop with i hope most of the tools i need and i would like to give it a go to try and save some coin.
If I have repeated a thread i apologize but i did look first ok
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would assume that they are the same as all of the other commodores, bendix list rears as db1332 for all commodores. the drum brake inside the rear disc. I have never seen these wear out... I would assume the hard part as they would say is removing the disc from the axle, it should be fairly simple, just use the caliper retaining bolts to jack the disc off and replace the pads, check the wear inside the drum as well to make sure that the linings are a sung fit.

It takes less than an hour to change the pad, I dunno how they came to that price.

I have taken it off several times, easy job.

It is more awkward than difficult. You have to work around the axle. The Holden service manual probably says to remove the axle. Not that hard a job, as said, remove the rear rotor and the hand brake shoes are behind that.

Must be a different setup than the style side. Mine is simple.

My handbrake stopped working. I replaced the shoes. There is no need to take off the axle, just the rotor.

The shoe has 4 pad/compound sections, and usually only uses one of them to hold the car when you pull up the hand brake. If you hand brake is not adjusted evenly at the shoes, it will prematurely wear out the one compound section on the one shoe, which is what happened to mine. It was down to bare metal lol.

I went back up to the holden dealership and asked why the hefty charge and the reason that the holden guys gave me was that the vz one tonner has got a single axle and is quite a large job WTF! I didnt ask why I just said "well thats about as handy as a ashtray on motorbike at 120 klm/hr and walked out so i think i may just have a bash myself and change the diff oil and both sets of wheel bearings while im in there and anything else that presesents itself.
Thanks for the comments guys really appreciate it and will post more info when i get to the job as im not home until the 17th dec.
