Usually the wire is a dark blue with white stripe to run the power aerial.

There isnt any wire for the illumination or aerial power like the kenwood unit i had... the blue and white is the remote wire for the amps, yellow is constant, red is accessories, black is earth

What make and model is the head unit? Can you pick something up off the amp power supply?

Did the previous unit have a button for the aerial (as some of the standard units do) or was it just an automatic feature?

You should have an orange cable in the mix there as well which is illumination, the blue/white as mentioned before is the aerial power, the coaxial cable which was in the bottom right hand side of the old head unit is for the aerial, I think you need an adapter for it to work

ive got everything working, minus the aerial up/down when go to radio... there isnt a wire on the headunit harness for it, im guessing it would be orange but its not there.. is there any other way to wire it in?

Hook it up to the accesory wire. If you want to put it down without turning car off, add a switch(search for the pioneer antenna switch thread)

ok, so this isnt a new problem? I was thinking about a switch, might just do that..

on a side note, unwrapped the tape to my standard plug as i was thinking about buying an adapter, discovered the dodge bastards at Wow in townsville have cut my old wires from the plug... how jack is that...

Your blue/white wire is the antenna wire or power amp wire. It should work if you hook it up to both the amp and antenna.

yeh, its a problem with pioneer units. regardless of feedback from installers/customers, they still refuse to run a seperate radio antenna wire, so its put up with it being up while unit is on, or install a switch.

thought you had a cheap ass ebay unit for a while there, because you didnt mention the remote wire first off.
