Default vz executive timing cover seal replacement

Hey guys, my timing cover is sweating oil (not dripping) around near my alternator and is slowly progressing as the months roll by. Just wondering if any of use can give me an estimated or accurate pricing of getting this repaired as i dont have the time or space to carry out such a job?

**also anyone from w.a that has gotten this repair done by a dealer/independent mechanic somewhere could you please give any recommendations/places to go?**

    cheers guys.

While its only sweating I wouldnt sweat it, no pun intended.

The job is fairly labour intensive and thats where the big cost comes into it. Personally Id wait till it actually starts dripping then ring around for the best repair price.

it cost me $1200 to replace a timing chain tensioner, i reckon its about a 2 hr job to remove the cover and refit so id say somewhere between $300 - $400 inc parts.. Thats just my guess though

Lot longer than that for removal and refitting and all mating surfaces have to be cleaned as well.

i thought it was a rubber seal that ran around the edge of the timing cover, therefor no real 'gasket' as such?

I was degreasing my alloytec190 engine today and I've noted a few spots where oil has been seeping out, on 1 camshaft on each side, the back of the drivers side rocker cover and down close to the crank. I assume it's never been cleaned up in its 6 year lifetime so it shouldn't be too much of a big deal, just wondering who else has this sort of issue and if it can lead to bad circumstances.

Its a liquid sealant, comes from a tube.

yeah righto, in that case would there be an issue with putting some gasket in a tube style shit where it is laking as a temp fix?

You could try I suppose. No guarantees it will work though.
