Today I went and looked at a 2006 VZ Calais for sale at Holden; exterior is perfect while some plastics on the interior need to be fixed (which Holden will fix for me as part of the deal).
Little things like one of the cup holders not popping out, the buttons on the steering wheel are close to falling out, a crack in the stock head unit, etc.
Some stats; 67,000km's, silver, aftermarket rims (only mod), paddle shifters behind steering wheel, full leather interior, and the other basics.
Now, Holden wants 20k, but is this too much to ask for a 6 year old car, seeing that 2009 VE's are worth 22 to 25k depending on km's (take into consideration they barely have any km's)?
My bro has a 2009 VE Sv6 with 32,000km's and he's only getting about 23k for his car with a tonne of mods done to it (including a very expensive sound system), so I just want some peoples advice on what price would be reasonable for the Calais.
Thanks in advance![]()
depends is it a v6 or v8?
17k for a v6 with those km's.

yea i wouldnt pay anymore then 17g for it, they probably would have given the guy that traded it in about 12g
Car yards are always more expensive then private. 20k sounds about right for a car yard. You can get a VE calais for 20k private, the VE's have some issues sorted out that the VZ's had aswell including a better steering wheel button setup that does not fall apart.

try private i found my sv6 private and got it way cheaper than dealerships.
Calais will always cost more than SV6.
i know im just saying that private is usually cheaper
the reason why i'm not going for private is because their aren't any good ones with less then 80,000km's! their is one black one but it's a hoons car so it most likely wasn't looked after while the Holden one only has aftermarket rims while everything else is completely stock.
and i don't really like the VE's much, i've always loved the VY/VZ model. as long as the buttons can be fixed i'm happy haha.

I own a VZ Calais V6 190kw (standard) and it has paddle-shift active select fyi![]()
Paddle shift was part of the AS (auto select) option on the SV6 - unfortuantely don't have any pics as swapped to SS wheel and removed the paddles.
Basically they are little plus and minus tabs that sit just above the airbag on the right and left side of the steering wheel
You are buying the car from holden more often than not its gona be more expensive than anywhere else but "generally" its going to be a better car. I dont know whats included in your deal but sometimes you get a decent warranty from holden for their used cars. I bought my sv6 from holden i paid a bit more that i would have liked but i couldnt be happier. Anyway thats just my 2cents so the choice is yours
I bought not long ago and did look at Calais, ended up getting an SV6.
To be honest mate I reckon $15k - $16k, the market for used large cars is very flat at the moment. I wouldn’t be paying more than that.
If he’s not interested leave your number and walk away.
Buying privately is cheaper but yards are generally easier, you get a bit of service and also the used car warranty which is a bit of peace of mind – they’ll try their best to not fix anything under warranty but at least you have some recourse on the off chance there’s a major issue with the car, particularly if it’s a big yard who are a bit reputable. Buying privately can be a gamble and I found it a pain in the arse – people are just bloody unreliable and I generally couldn’t arrange a meet or they couldn’t answer basic questions. Bloody nuffies.
yea they offer a 3 year warranty, complete clean of the car (i don't care about that though, i plan on giving it an extreme clean when i get it) and fix any errors/things that need attention.
well the dealer called me privately on his mobile wanting to discuss a reasonable price, but i don't do the bargaining so i told him i'd get my dad to give him a ring back. this is a good sign yea? haha.
*also, my bro always told me that the Calais came with paddle shifters but i never believed him!
Hey bud i just got an 05 vz Calais about 2 months ago few more k's but it cost me 13k with 5 years warranty.no interior problems or anything but my head unit too has a crack near volume knob...must be common then... But all in all as torana said around 17-18k for something like that.. Remember drive a hard bargain mate, they will do anything for a sale these days especially with smaller cars almost running the market. (also got my p's two weeks before I bought car too) insurance is a little bit too... Deep pocket may be required.

78,000kms is much more then 67,000kms when you think about it... yea the car might be a heck of a lot cheaper, but the kms are just too high.
and silver looks much better haha.[/QUOTE]
78,000k's is pretty damn low for a VZ Calais considering it's nearly 6 years old. Average k's for a 6 year old car is anywhere between 120,000-150,000k's. (20,000kpy/25,000kpy). If i were to choose between the two i'd go for the white one for 14.8k and try bargain him down a little. That's only my opinion though. Goodluck with it all, you won't regret buying one there sexy cars!
