    Put the key in.

Open palm give it a good solid tap on the end. If you can get some graphite dust into it first would be good.

Whilst that might get it started, it is time to start looking for a new lock barrel. They can be bought at any spare parts place & a locksmith should be able to help re-key it, so your old keys work.

Unfortunately mate.... that's the first sign of she's knackered.
Same thing happened to me a couple months back (at the Kmart in Pirie coincidentally.)
If you're in the RAA, or know someone who is, the RAA Pirie crew know how to get her going in no time.
I was lucky enough that Spencer motors could replace the barrel (and key match) that same afternoon, all up it was around $250.

Pull your old ignition out, buy the new one from Holden, and fit the new pins into the new ignition in the same order as the old one.

Do it yourself and save $200.

Best way to unjam it is tap the end of the key with the handle of a screwdriver or very small hammer while applying turning pressure with the other hand.

Dont put anything into the barrel it can make it worse. Just replace it.

If the ring doesnt fit its the wrong barrel.

Yes it should contact the ring to disarm the immobiliser.

Had the same issue not long ago. Locksmith wanted $350 to come out and replace the barrel.

Go down to Repco, buy an ignition barrel - P/No. NIB74, about $60.00 retail, take it to a locksmith who should charge about $30 to rekey it. Pretty easy to remove/install new barrel yourself.

all fixed, key reader did actually fit the barrel, was tight fit and being plastic i was reluctant to force it as every tab, clip, bracket ect, made out of plastics seems to break when i handle it.

I did mine on our VXII and it was easy. Look up
    my youtube under kaveebee.

Just remember that you have to get the guts of the switch ( the one in the steering lock part ) on accessories as well as the new switch....then its easy as.
    good luck!
