ok so a while ago i decieded to take out the rear ressie and make it stright through instead, this is starting to get on my nerve abit with drone, so my thinking is that if i put a lukey sports muffler in, it will sound much better than the original set up without drone???
thoughts?
is it school holidays already??
Twin 3" would be sik as..

wow any one care to comment who does not feel like being a knob head
Is it a v6?
yeh v6 mate
Put the stock exhaust back in.
But seriously,
The alloytec is totally different from all previous V6's and will never sound like them. People try to get the same note by putting similar exhausts to the pre VZ on them only to be disappointed with a loud, raspy and drony note.
The best system I have found for these that give a deep note that's not too loud and doesn't drone is a twin 2 1/4" into single 3" Manta cat back system. $495 shipped to your door. Easy to fit yourself too.
it is stock except for the rear ressie, the only reason i took it out was to try and get a note out if it as all you can hear on the alloytec is the engine, but the drone is now getting on my nerves hence the thought that a sports stright through ressie would minimise drone whislt still retaining a bit of a note?
No it won't, all it will do is make it a bit quieter, but it will still drone.
hmmmmmm i see, yeh ive heard good reports about the manta system i just don t think i can justify spending 500 bucks simply for a note, one day mabey?
why ask the question then? everyhthing has a price

have you got nothing better to do than ridicule this thread?
obviously its going to cost me either way, but when i simply want a slighlty better note out of the tail pipe i would rather pay $60 rather than $500 that may, depending on personal opinion, sound just as good,
so in saying this, if you dont have anything constructive to say than bugger off yeh?
I totally understand impulsives cynicism, we get it all the time. Someone comes on and says that they have done blah blah to the exhaust on a VZ and it only cost X amount, then they have had to spend a bit more, then a bit more, then a bit more again to try and get it to sound any good. Only to finally admit defeat and buy a decent system and spending a couple of hundred more than if they just bought the system to start with.
I almost did the same thing, take rear resi off and make it straight. But after I got my full exhaust done I realise how bad the stock pipe and muffler make it sound.
If your not going to spend $500 on your catback, don't get an exhaust at all, it will sound worse than stock.

give everything a spray with wd40 wheels brakes that should fix the squeaks
im forever, like abba, resonding to exhaust threads on here, but only when people come on and ask founded decent questions.
$350 should get you an exhaust of some sort, i did for $360, and it sounded good, but that was quite a few years ago and things have changed. The theory as i see it is exhausts are a matter of opinion, if you like it then its a good exhaust, if you like it and no one else does, its still a good exhaust, if you dont like it, change it..
no good jumping on here asking an exhaust question without really explaing what your after.. twin, single, loud, quiet etc etc

i understand where people are coming from, however my budget simply doesent allow me to throw that sort of cash at such a thing, intrested in the ss exhaust though, will any ss if? suppose the wreckers would be full of them? but in all honesty i will probley still go with the rear stright through sports ressie as there is yet to be someone on here saying
'nuh dont do that, i did that and it sounded shit house'
so i guess ill be the pioneer and tell you how it goes
and thee ss exhaust option? will any fit say, vt on?
No.
VT-VY series 1 V6, basically all the same.
VT-VZ V8 basically all the same (except VZ Clubsport with side by side cat pipes)
Everything that fits V8 will fit the VZ V6 except the one in brackets above.
The only v6 exception is the L67 which has twin cats and so the V8 system fits that also.
I'm talking configuration here, not flow and size.
if you want a good exhaust, that is cheap, and has a nice note... Standard exhaust, let the engine do the talking, save yourself the looks from the cops, what you could spend on the exhaust spend on the suspension, headlights, stereo...
Best exhaust i have had so far is Pacemaker extractors, 2.5 Cat pipes, stock cats, standard cat back... Does the job, with no drone and whine. and all you can hear is engine!
Oh and btw, stock exhaust is free.. another benefit!
