    Default DIY stock headunit mod???

Just wondering if it is possible to install a sub into a vz sv6 without changing the original headunit. i.e can you create your own RCA input ?.
tried to do some research on it but nothing came up

if you are only installing a sub you could run a LOC (Line Out Converter or Low Level Converter)

it taps on to your speaker wires then has rca outputs on it

a LOC would put out enough quality sound for just a sub and is the cheapest alternative, should be able to pick up one from your local autobarn or car store for around 15 bucks

Check the vy section, there's a sticky that shows how to connect an iPod to the standard hu. I've done it myself and it worked a charm

Also with the RCA, you can splice into the rear doors speakers and install a high/low converter, which lets you connect RCA using speaker wires

Precisely. I spent a good $300+ on the stock unit installing RCAs and AUX ins and in the end it was probably a waste of time except for keeping the stock look. Line out converters are absolute shit in the quality department - even my sub sounded better when I moved from LOC's to the RCA mod.

^ What those two said. Unless you are absolutely dead set on retaining the factory unit, just buy a new one, the standard Blaupunkt units are shithouse. Single din with everything you need + pocket for $200 easy.
