Just wondering if it is possible to install a sub into a vz sv6 without changing the original headunit. i.e can you create your own RCA input ?.
tried to do some research on it but nothing came up![]()
Have you check out ASR?
as above check out the ASR thread in our sponsor section for the rca mod and if u have a ipod this guy does a cool little interface i have both in my wifes adventra as she wanted to keep the stock head unit and have a full function ipod control and sub

Theres the 3sixty2 and a few other things like that.

if you are only installing a sub you could run a LOC (Line Out Converter or Low Level Converter)
it taps on to your speaker wires then has rca outputs on it
a LOC would put out enough quality sound for just a sub and is the cheapest alternative, should be able to pick up one from your local autobarn or car store for around 15 bucks
hey mate is the ipod interface a good mod?
im kinda stuck im not sure wether to buy an aftermarket H/U to put in my ute or continue using the original, if i do stick with the original ill definatly want the ipod interface however whats the sound quality like? i prefer the original factory look aswell
Check the vy section, there's a sticky that shows how to connect an iPod to the standard hu. I've done it myself and it worked a charm
Also with the RCA, you can splice into the rear doors speakers and install a high/low converter, which lets you connect RCA using speaker wires
sounds like a yucky load of wiring and stuff, $200 gets you a really good head unit..

Precisely. I spent a good $300+ on the stock unit installing RCAs and AUX ins and in the end it was probably a waste of time except for keeping the stock look. Line out converters are absolute shit in the quality department - even my sub sounded better when I moved from LOC's to the RCA mod.
Yeah the iPod interface is good charges iPhone as well the wife loves it sounds good with the low level rca mod with a good amps and splits I have full after market in my clubby but
Yeah I really wanted to keep the original H/U so i'll give this ASR thread a try. thanks for your help guys![]()
