just got back from a road trip from melbourne to byron bay. on the way up we needed to drive through a flood that got high enough to cover my wheels :S
next day i noticed my suspension was making a hell of alot of squeaking noise. would this have been caused by the flood coupled with 1400 k's of wet driving(it rained from melbourne to byron)?
grab a can of silcone spray and go nuts on every bit that moves underneath the car,
works a treat at shutting up noises rubber etc
Driving through flooded waters in a commodore is a bad idea in the best of cases, mind you i too had to do it at the start of the year, had no choice but to push through. As soon as it was possible i pulled up and checked for damge etc. Found a few squeeks and hit them with water dispersant, then wd-40.. no problems from there on in, just a matter of finding and fixing.. good luck!
Life starts at 200km/h
i wasnt to keen on the flood waters myself, but had no choice other than a 3 hour detour round it. just remembered to keep the revs up and try not to worry about the two hole mod filling my intake with water....
ill get on the wd-40 and silcone spray and hopefully that will fix it till i give all the bushing an overhaul witch i planned to do when did my suspension anyway cheers for the advice
My brother bent a conrod by driving through flood water and having it come in through the intake. Next time I recommend you take the 3 hour detour, just to be sure.
well half a can of wd-40 later and shes quiet as a mouse again, for now...
thanks for the advice fellas
