Hi all
I have a funny noise coming from the engin bay when starting the car it seems to happen when I turn the car over, change gears (it is an auto), also when I accelerate it makes the noise. This only happens when the car is cold when it warms up a bit it go's away. The noise is like a metal on metal pinging kind of noise hard to explain?
Any ideas on what it could be would be helpfull??
The car is a 2006 VZ Calais 6.0l V8 auto.
Thanks heaps

bearing in one the pullys could be on its way
Not sure it is an auto what pullys do you mean?
It happens when the car is started then if I select gears say into reverse it will make the noise then stop, then to park it will do it then stop only does it for a few seconds then the noise go's away.
tensioner pulley would be my guess when u put the car into gear it creates a load on the engine and causes the tensioner to move same when its changing gears
I will have a look and get back to you.
Thanks mate
Starter motor not releasing, Bendix Spring stuffed.
I would be thinking exhaust shrods undernieth the car if it goes away when car warms up and you say no changes when auto changes gears so definatly not the the AUTO box causing you problems.
Hi all
It was the trans filter it had shavings in it prob caus it had not been serviced for a while,
The car is running fine now that it has new filter and oil hopefully thats it.
I was told to put in an after market Trans filter because the standard ones are not the best if this is true what type would i need?? HAS ANYONE BEEN TOLD THIS BEFORE??
Thanks heaps.
