    Default Vz Loud Exhaust

    G'day all!

I've been reading up on a bit of exhaust stuff and am so confused!!! X_X

I'm looking for a deep V8 sounding exhaust for my 04 Vz Sv6 if anyone has some information on a type or general opinions would be much appriciated!

Had a little bit of information and from what I understand it's worth coughing up the extra for a stainless steel one as it lasts longer?

Sorry in advance for the questions I know there are heaps of these.

    Much love all!!!!

You want an extra two cylinders in the sound? Or just a deeper note?

Try an exhaust shop or two, see what they say. Don't commit to nothing, just get opinions and prices.

As for lasting longer - is the current one perished or is it purely for aesthetic reasons that you want to change? Theoretically stainless will last longer, but how long are you keeping the car?

The link below is for a forum sponsor - maybe start there?

XFORCE Exhaust systems for Holden Commodore VE/VT/VX/VY/VZ Review

I would only be changing if it were perished or damaged and then only improving on standard if I was going to keep the car for at least 5 years.

Thanks for your input CapriciousWL, I plan on keeping the car for a good spill and would be looking for just a general all over deeper note at idle and acceleration (try hard V8 style). Ill take your advice and pop around locally and see what shops reckon. My current exhaust isn't damaged at all just stictly looking for sound and performance (more sound). Thanks again!

"Not an abba fan" can hook you up with a decent manta exhaust which shits all over xforce in quality. He's pretty good at sniffing out exhaust threads so hopefully he'll find this one.

Or they have never heard an SS.....

I will say the same thing that I say about every VZ V6 exhaust thread, it's not a Buick V6 and will never sound like one. They have a unique sound that not everyone likes. The bullshit about a V8 exhaust making them sound good is spread by tight arses that won't fork out for a decent system, therefore convincing themselves and anyone that will listen that they sound good.

Having said that, exhaust note is entirely subjective and what sounds good to one person, 100 may hate.

Manta have developed a system specially for the VZ that improves flow, reduces back pressure and sounds pretty decent with no drone. It's a twin 2 1/4" off the cats into two straight through mufflers then into a single 3" with a resonator. It is louder and deeper than stock, and as I said, does not drone. $495 shipped to anywhere in Aus.

FYI the VZ already has twin cats.

I wanted the same thing, but realised I was dreaming. Im just keeping my VZ clean so when I sell it I can get a bit more for it.

Just get a V8 don't waste your money trying to sound like one.

Come on boys ease up! Peace and Love and all that crap hahaha, So is there anyway to take ABBA's twin 2 1/4" off the cats into two straight through mufflers then into a single 3" with a resonator louder or does Louder then stock mean majorly or just by a little? Thanks for all your help so far everyone!

The problem with the VZ is that they are raspy and drone with the wrong system on them.

There are two options, loud, raspy and drony, or not as loud with no drone. The system I do is louder and deeper than stock and has a nice quality to it, but if you want loud, you will get drone.

By drone what do you mean exactly? Just checked some Mantra exhausts on youtube and they sound not too bad, performance wise this system also seems to be the best with a 2 1/4..

Yeah Alloytecs DO NOT sound very good with a loud system. They are very raspy at high revs so sound best with a exhaust that is more on the quiet side. If you want a loud car get a V8.
