key not working

tried to search but couldnt find much info, but today i got to the car, tried to start it and nothing happened. tried it in park and neutral, but the car didnt even wind the starter motor over, just nothing. i had a scan tool connected a while ago saying something about the key transponder or something along those lines, but never had an issue until today. took out a few fuses, put them back in and the car started again, but with a check powertrain fault.

anyone have any idea as to why the key did not work? i also tried my spare ket which did nothing as well.

sounds like a dead key or battery, had the same problem with mine a year or so ago, replaced the whole key for my birthday and all was good.

However, if either keyts arent working, battery, or a one off

Both keys unlock the car, it was weird
