Hey all,
I'm very confused and need some help with Sport Suspension,
I was under the impression that all holden Calais in the VZ range had Fe2 suspension ?
yet a calais i took a look at today just hd STD suspension.
We had owned a VTII International Calais before and that had fe2.
any help in which cars do actually have fe2 would be great, as the quality of ride seems to be far better.
Thank You
I'm pretty sure the VZ Calais had FE1.5
I could be wrong.
FE2 would be an option on the Calais, not standard.
Silver Certified.
Can't remember if VZ Calais had Fe2 or some other tune but there is a fair chance the shocks are stuffed by now anyway. If you are buying the car factor in the cost of a set of KYB shocks from GSL Rally Sport (site sponsor) and you will be very happy.
Reaper
So i did a bit of research on the internet.. found out that the 9C1, Acclaim, SV6, SV8 and SS all have FE2 Suspension.
Hope that can clear up the original question.

from my understanding, FE1 wasnt a mix between springs and shocks, it was a bit higher and not as peformance orientated

Hi
I own a stock VZ Calais.
When you look at the metal plate which states, STD, this actually refers to the standard Calais suspension which is FE1.5 by default.
The FE2 was an optional upgrade and if this was requested the metal plate would specify FE2 as opposed to FE1.5 (STD).
Other than the SV6s, some '05 Equipe models had the FE2 as part of a sales package.
Cheers!
I own a VZ Calais also and I agree with KrisHolden. The plate says standard suspension and it is for a VZ Calais and is known as FE1.5 . Mine has stock springs in also and they do sit a lot lower than the exec etc. The ride is firmer too, in a sales brochure they call it a luxury sports suspension.
thanks for all your help, I understand the difference now, I couldn't really find any concrete info on it, but you have all helped a great deal.
thank you.
With the info you all gave me, I ended up getting a Caprice 05 model with the FE1.5.
thanks heaps.
Just for the record, I have an ex police 9C1 car with FR1 suspension. Country pack. Looks like a 4WD!
i have a ex cop vz executive with fe2.![]()
