hi all ive got a vz v6, running a standard ss 2 1/4 exhaust which goes into a twin 3 inch muffler towards the back wheels. its at the point where it sounds good to me and its not loud. im getting pacemakers hi flow cats fitted in the next couple weeks and the guy said it wont do much sound way and performance way. he recommened me to get extractors fitted so that its got max performance. the REAL question is, is there any extractors out there that isnt going to make my car sound like a fart or making it over the top loud??
all help would be helpful,
Thank you

Extractors Shouldnt make it any louder, might change the tone tho? due to flow being a little better
And not sure if true, ive been told that Hiflo cats are louder, but not buy much?
i confused now. i got told extractors make it a noticable difference is sound and that cats make it a smallest bit loud and in some causes ive herd it makes it quiet

Essentially, the thing that makes an exhaust loud or quiet is the flow. Imagine the engine with headers that came straight out the side and had nothing else, it would be loud as hell. If you had the exact same thing, just pipes, going from the engine to the rear of the car, it would still be hell loud. The cats and the mufflers are what make all the difference when it comes to sound. If you have hi-flow cats more is going to flow through faster and you'll have a louder noise. If you have a straight through muffler it won't do much and it'll be loud.
The extractors do play part of a role though. It also depends on the volume of exhaust that's coming through. If you have larger headers which allow more to come out more freely it'll be even louder because there's a higher flow. If you have smaller ones there will be less flow and it will be a little quieter. If you took a car from stock and put larger extractors on it then yes it would sound louder. Not a lot, but it would be. Everything comes into play, but the main thing that makes a difference is the flow, and the majority of that comes down to the cats and mainly the mufflers, because that's what they do.... the muffle...
aftermarket cats make it sound like a fart in a tin can
Life starts at 200km/h
The only way that aftermarket high flow cats don't make it sound bad is if you fit short headers that retain the cats in the factory position and keep the two small resonators under the car.
They will still make it louder, but less raspy than if you removed the resonators.
I do HiTech headers that keep the cats where they are and high flows for $975 fitted if you are interested.
Extractors will increase performance in that they improve the torque spread, not add any power. Won't matter whether you fit short or long primary extractors, but long ones will move the cats back and eliminate the front resonators making it sound like a fart in a tin can.

Mate just bought the ss system for my sv6 also. What are ur thoughts on it? Do u have to cut the stock rear resonator out to have any benefit ?
Cheers
