Wiper replacement blades?

Stupid question, I know, but I just bought replacement blades for my Commodore VZ thinking they'd be like all the others I've bought over the years for other cars, but they're not. I can't get the old ones off the wiper arm, there's a little black rectangular box thing at the tips that have me baffled.

What's the trick?

Just break them off with side-cutters. You get new brackets with your new blades.

or do it the right way.using a small flat blade screw driver .pry the tab up. then you just pull them off ?????
