hi guys,
just wondering if there is a special way in removing the front rotors off a 2005 vz calais,
i have smashed it with a rubber mallet with no luck.
couldnt find the threads to scren in a bolt either
please help
thanks
nope as long as the caliper is off. somtimes they get stuck. if your replacing get a ####ing big hammer...clean all your mateing surfaces.i use never seize.even on your alloy rim. helps them from sticking on . the last vz i did the disc needed a big hit.wouldnt move with a rubber mallet
As above. But just be a bit careful as smashing them too hard will damage the wheel bearing. I use a long lever between the strut and the rotor. Lever, then turn the rotor a bit, then lever, then turn and so on. WD40 or CRC on the hub also helps.
thanks guys,
managed to get them off, just used alot of CRC,
hi guys, got the rotors machined today and put them back on the car,
first of all why i got them machined is that they were squeeking,
now after being machined they still squeek.the squeek goes away when the brakes are applied,
any tips to making this go away?
cheers
why machine when you get new discs X2 and pads for under a $100 bucks, squeaking normally dirty pads, or glazed discs.. remove your pads and clean them up with sandpaper,or rough cement floor, sorr y but you did the job all wrong
dont know where you are getting you discs from and pads,
here in NZ would be over 200 bucks
try a can of CRC Brakleen might help![]()
another thing you can do.you can get goo that goes on your pads to help with the sqeal. but it goes on the piston side
The squeak is the pads vibrating so as said try the brake glue. Inner pads glues to piston, outer pad to caliper.

yep thats what i meant, didnt want it to contact the disc , or ooppps no ####y brakey
hi guys,
thanks for your amswers, i tried that goo stuff that goes onto the piston side today with no luck. they still Freeking squeek,
i have had a look to see what else it mite be but i cant see what will be causing it, i gave the pads a bit of sanding to see if that will fix it but no it didnt
any other ideas i seem to be stumped now
cheers
If the rotors have been machined Id go for new pads.

they are new pads only month old,i got the rotors machined coz the new pads were squeeking
Are they cheapo pads?
Silver Certified.
they are fron the holden dealer they were about $90.00 nz
ACDelco brand
Have you made sure the slides arent contacting the rotor? Those pads should have come with new slides
Silver Certified.
hi there, stupid question what are the slides?
only the pads cam in the box but one pad had a clip so it holds it tho the outside of the brake caliper
OK maybe they dont come with them. Im talking about the bits that clip onto the caliper that the pads sit in and slide back and forth, they also have little sprung arms that keep the pad from vibrating.

The last time i got new Bendix fronts pads, they didn't come with the metal clips.
Holden have them for $7, they last about 2 pad changes
hi guys, went to holden dealer today and asked if they sell shims seperatley, they said no,the only come with new pads WTF!!! went to a couple of other outlets and they dont sell either, may have to go to the wreckers and see how much they will rip me of.lol
Does yours have them on there now? If they arent broken or contacting the rotor anywhere they should be fine.
Silver Certified.
yes shims are in there, i had a look today took them out and put them back in, but couldnt see anything that could be touching the disc,
since i cant buy any new ones over the counter i will go and see if the wreckers have any and try them out,
If they are ok theres no point replacing them.
Some grease where the tabs of the brake pads slide along wont hurt though.

will try that tomorrow,if they still squeek what else coult it be,im out of soloutions
