Hey guys i got a 07 SVZ ute just got pacemaker extractors and cats installed but the gear changes feel sloppy even changing at like 2500-3000 revs and when it gets that high the exhaust sounds a bit tinny.. Is there anything i can do to try improve this, like a tune up or something? i dont know to much bout tune ups tho so any advice would be good.
Cheers
For the exhaust note, try a resinator or a different muffler, maybe add a muffler. For the gear change try a Gearbox service, is it manual or auto. im assuming auto

Is the exhaust standard from the cats back?
Were gear changes sloppy only after the exhaust was fitted?
Silver Certified.
Its a 6speed manual and it has a single 3inch redback exhaust from catback on it at the moment i think and i only really noticed the gears being sloppy after i got the extractors and cats.
What do you mean by sloppy?
Silver Certified.
Its hard to do smooth shifts it seems a bit jumpy like im changin gears too early.. Im not sure if that is why coz ive got more power from the extractors and need a tune up or something done so i thought id ask you guys coz i dont know much bout it..
Cheers
sounds like driver error, are you dropping the clutch and driving different due to a new exhaust sound? If you are changing gears too early, then the car would be struggling to drive, almost shaking becuase it doesnt have a decent gear to accelerate. put the car in 3rd gear, handbrake on, let the clutch out. If it stalls then you know your clutch is good..

I know how to drive a manual mate haha but ill give the 3rd gear handbrake on a go and see what happens might try rev it out a bit more when im driving and see what happens..
Thanks mate
i did the same but realised i was changing gears to the sound of the exhaust and not the revs, so it feels sloppy and powerless
I dont mean to make out that you dont, just how else do you explain a possible shift in driver style, im thinking that you hear the exhaust now and you naturally think the car may be getting worked harder then usual, urging you to change a little sooner, thus endstate 'sloppy' gear changes.

Yeah i think thats what it could of been went for a spin earlier let it rev higher then shift and it seemed alrite i still dont like the tinny sound tho but ppl say it sounds fine from outside the car. Now i just need to get someone to #### the o2 sensors off coz check powertrain warning is annoyin haha
