I have had several "check drive train" messages when towing about 1600Kg. They apparently due to oxygen sensors and the car getting hot. I am considering a long trip towing across Aust. Several people have suggested I fit a transmission cooler. My local mechanic tells me that the vz had a cooler already and that should be sufficient. Has anyone towed without a transmission cooler. Any recommendations or comment would be appreciated. Thanks.
i dont think they do have trans coolers from standard.. unless it came with the heavy duty towing kit from factory if im correct?
otherwise ive fitted a B&M transcooler to my SS Trans Cooler B&M havent had issues when giving it a hard time
If your towing that amount of weight, I would definitely go for a large aftermarket trans cooler.
a transmission place will always tell you that you can never have too many oil coolers ! the biggest killer of transmissions is heat i would recomend getting one as the one on the car is not ment for heavy loads.
The radiator has one built in but as part of the towing pack Holden adds an external cooler as well.
