Hi all had my car checked by holden, turns out whoever had it before me has completly ####ed my engine.
Cylinders 2,3,4,5 all have cylinder knocking, the gear box is buggerd aswel. can anyone tell me if its possible to fix the engine/gearbox or would it be cheaper to sell it and buy a new car?

That's really sad to hear, if you can't take it back to the dealer you bought it from, have a look on Holmart as they have brand spanking new engines for sale and im sure a suitable gearbox wouldn't be hard to find. They cost would be easily upwards of 5g though
Didn't you have the car checked out before buying it?
Holden are the ones trying to rape you. Take it to a reputable shop other than a dealership and see what they say.
How much did you pay for the car ?
i paid 16 grand for it, im gonna see if i can take it back to the dealer i brought it off, as it has had the problems since i brought it, i had it fully inspected by my mechanic who said there was nothing wrong with it
What a dirty bastard. How many k's has the car done mate?
I am assuming there is no warranty on the car.
WELL i put in a complaint to consumer affairs and there gonna try and get my money back![]()
nope just told me to baby it thats it, but its still under warranty so it should be all good....hopefully, considering im dealing with a bad dealer. i also think mine has been in a crash notice a slight colour differnce in the bonnet paint and bumpers and so on

you can find out by doing a revs check, i think it costs about $40 or so but a must before you purchase the car
O.k. good its under warranty, what i am wondering is how he bodged it up to sound good whilst you were test driving and inspecting it with all those problems and your mechanic wouldn't happen to be the dealerships mechanic as well would he.
no he's not a dealership mechanic, well i had it for a week and a half then all the problems began to unfold slowly bit by bit the car began to just fall apart everytime i drove it i found a new problem it was ####ing stupid

I dont think you can on here but spread the word that this guy is shonky what a prick.
Aint he a toyota dealer ? have ya ever thought if it was fine when you bought it it was fine when it was traded to the yard ?? its not always the yards fault YOU bought a car with a buggered engine and thats after your mechanic said it was fine so how can you blame the yard ?
Dont go for a warranty job mate, this thing is a lemon!! It will always have problems by the sounds of it. Try to get your money back.
Also see if you can get a second opinion on the car, but for 16k i wouldnt risk the second or third mechanic telling me its ok and keeping the car only to find out it was a lemon after all.
Hope it all turns out in your favor, keep us posted.
Well assuming he isn't lying, then it's the yard's fault. It's their job to know what cars go in and out of their yard. Of course the fact his mechanic had a look at the car doesn't help, but then what can you do? This happens, I've seen it happen to my mates who are salt of the earth honest people, the car's been abused to oblivion and they see it a week to a month after they buying it... turns out the seller was being a gronk about what the car's been through. I've seen instances where they've faked roadworthy's to sell the vehicles. I'm sure this happens all the time...

yeah the car has been ####ed since i brought it from the yard, the bloke at holden said its been in a bad way for a while now, im getting my money back for the car
So its final? The dealer is giving you a full refund?
Thats great news mate!!!!
Im a bit suss on this. You cant hide engine knocks or a shagged transmission so why would you buy the car in this condition? You say it was like this from day 1 so youd be crazy to buy a car with engine knock and a stuffed tranny?
