Owner of a 05 VZ SV6 190kw alloytec. Was wondering if all alloytecs rattle at start up? The sound comes from the engine and sounds like there is something flapping around in there. Lasts for about 3seconds then kicks into normal.
I ask because ive heard of other alloytecs doing so too. My mate has a 06 VZ EXECUTIVE alloytec and he said his does the same thing, samee goes for another friend with a VE OMEGA wagon.

Anyone know if it is just normal for alloytecs to rattle at start up?

The rattle doesnt really bother me as it only sounds when the car hasnt been running for a while. Just thought something was wrong thats all. Think im going to leave the heat sheilds in.

Thanks for the feedback

I'm shocked all new cars first start they sound horrible. The i6 turbo sounds like a diesel. The ecotec v6 sounds like bolts fell off.

Is it costly to the get the oil pressure tested/'re-pressured'?

No, it's the same with any engine, they all lose oil pressure when off because the oil pump is mechanically driven

You can get it tested, but the alloytec has a feature that if oil pressure gets too low, it will shut down the engine to save it
