Just don't degrease the ecu or the coils and it should be fine. Never had a problem and I degrease mine every so often

The electrics on top of the engine on either side of the intake manifold, where the spark plugs go. Don't degrease the black covers with all the electrics over them lol

I wouldn't use a caustic degreaser on alloy. It usually pits it. I always use the spray degreasers and buy a half dozen everytime they are on sale at Supercheap. I've seen a VS that someone had used a cuastic degreaser on and all the alloy on the engine and gearbox housing was pitted and had a white powdery residue on it. I wouldn't bother about wetting the electrics just don't direct the hose onto them. Most of the electrical connectors are sealed so no big deal.

Ah big realisation after trying to clean a slight stain off the back of the intake manifold with spray degreaser months later a white salt looking residue formed and hasn't gone away (probably didnt wash the degreaser off properly) Anyone know the best away to clean it off?

Don't be gay. Leave the motor running and pressure wash the lot. Job done.

Best to do it engine off, engine covers on and avoid getting degreaser on the accessory belts as it can make them squeal.

Just use the degreaser at the do it yourself carwash then rinse with spot free rinse.

Avoid drowning anything electrical like alternator and electrical connectors. If you have an aftermarket alarm avoid the siren completely, wrap it up.

I used to regularly hose my engine bay with degreaser and water in both my VR and VY at the car wash without any problems.
