I was interested in buying an ex taxi. It is a 2005 Statesman WL. V6. Done close to 900,000km. Aparantly all running very well.
I can get it for about $2000. Does anybody know if this is a good deal and how much a new engine would cost if the current one dies.
You can get a crate motor for about $7k. Need to get all the fluids for it and get it fitted (unless you're game). Second hand motors - check with a wrecker or on eBay.
With that many kms, I would be looking elsewhere. The drivers set will be t the point of collapse, suspension, brakes, bushes etc will all need attention. Many seals will be starting to perish.
Think about spending a bit more on a less flogged vehicle would be my tip. Other option (if the interior is in excellent condition) would be to strip it for parts.
900,000??!?!?!?
only 100,000kms more and she'll be brand new again...
Hey, if it's a cheapo run around car I'd say go for it so long as it passes a roadworthy.
900,000? ! ???
Guinnes Book of Records status ...
Buy it for the rarity factor. Who else would have a statto with that many K's?
Though at that milage it might be not so bad as almost everything might have been replaced or reconditioned on it over the last 7 years to keep her on the road.
get some pics up? id definatly take it for an inspection if you arent to mechanically minded, just for a checkover, becuase suspension can set you back a lot of dollars if its worn out. If it's got leather and im assuming it does id buy it for 2k, you could easily make that back in parts imo
Atleast the cluster hasnt been changed that means its honest...
