I went to an unnamed Holden dealer for my car servicing and also asked for brake pads replacement, they charged me 900 odd dollars and the car servicing for only for 1 -2 hours only. when i asked them , they said that 2 people are working on the car for finishing of quickly. i saw with my own eyes that most of the time , there was only 1 mechanic working and also the back tail lamps where not fitted correctly.
I am not happy with the service at all and i would not go to Holden service centres again in my life. They rip you off and the servicing is not up to the par.

yeah i know what you mean , i wouldnt let them touch my lawn mower..... let alone my car , my local centre is full of idiots with no clue what so ever, the only person with half a brain is the clown writing the bill.

I've heard they are having financial problems, maybe they are charging everyone double to improve their profit margin ?
Sound about right. I'd bank on 300 for a service, 300 bucks for pads, 200 bucks to install and another 100 for GST and anything else that may have come up.
and of course everyones favourite "workshop supplies"
Wait - so you didn't ask them how much it was going to cost BEFORE they did the work?
Ok, so what km service was it? What work was actually listed on the invoice?
I have serious doubts Holden would say "we charged you extra labour to finish your rather simple service a touch quicker". Now you say the pads and service was done, why were the tail lamps removed?
I agree with the above, 2 sides to every story. There certainly sounds like there is more to this one.

My VE - The Class 2 Shuttle Craft
Timmy was a chemist's son, but Timmy is no more, for what he thought was H2O was H2SO4...
Thats why i never go, my old ute only went into holden an i drove it 2 hours away cause my uncle is the general manager there an i know i wouldnt get ripped off, thats the only reason it went into holden, other wise i did everything myself, just rip off everyone
I've removed all references to the actual dealer. Unless it's proven that you were actually ripped off they are entitled to 'innocent until proven guilty' in this country.
Yeah seems a bit odd. 1st ever post & chooses to tip a bucket on a dealership .... especially if it was a 120k service on a VZ!
You go to Holden if you want genuine parts (cost more), a Tech 2 to analyse codes (backyarders don't have them) and all the related workshop resources, manuals & Holden only troubleshooting tech guides.
And yes that all costs money .... but I always get a quote first. Even your service book quotes hours of labour for standard services.
It obviously can't have been too much of an issue... OP hasn't even bothered to return.
I have previously used Hunter Holden, Sydney and were incredibly impressed with their service, quality of work and prices for a log book service.
It's funny how some service centers are more expensive though, I would have thought that they all had to follow the same outline. For example, I had my 120k done at one centre, the other place wanted more for just a minor logbook service. Always good to shop around, even between Holden dealerships, or bargain between them
In your owners manual it will list the time for your service. Your charged for this amount of labour whether the experienced mechanic does it in half that time or the apprentice takes 6 times that.
yep, sadly the service world lives and breathes hours. Each mechanic is worth time (usually 7.6 hours each day from memory) and every minute is accounted for and recorded, even if its to mop the floor or move the cars out in the morning.
If each minute isn't accounted for there's alot of explaining to do, on the flip side theres trouble if the mechanic goes over the allocated time (eg those times in the books mentioned above).
We might not see it as the customer, but to the workshop controller, service advisors and service manager, its all mathematical equations each day. We have a workshop of X hours available, and we have Y number of cars with Z hours worth of work to be completed.
i see some new ads on tv with more and more models treated to the capped price servicing.
I have had my magna and holden serviced at the dealership and have never been dissappointed with the result, you know what they say tho, one born every minute, sorry OP, u seem to be "the one" lol.
How is it being ripped off?
You had your car serviced, you had your brake pads changed. Just because they charged you such a large amount isnt getting ripped off. If they charged you to change your pads, and they DIDNT. Then you would have been ripped off.
You simply had your car serviced at an expensive place that YOU failed to research. Im sick of seeing people whinge about being ripped off, just because they paid more than they expected.
