hey Mate

I would go at least a twin 2 1/2 on the LS engines be in 5.7 or 6 litre

haven't really heard of any single 3" on a v8, i've seen either twin 2.5 or twin 3.5inch

Yeh neither have I on the LS engines anyway

Most the 5 litre boys will be running a single 3" or 3.5" pipe though

Your VZ 6.0 is likely putting out more than 300hp, the really basic rule of thumb with exhaust engineers is an inch per 100hp.
3.5" min as single else you'll choke your python, so to speak.
2 x 2.25" catback (450hp theoretical max) is usual spec for L76/L77 and most LS variants.
2 x 2.5" catback worthwhile, opens up bottled hp and tq if tuned properly.
Sound wise I personally think singles sound old and loose like a clapped HQ or a clagged 70s speed boat.

Will extractors from VX Gen III 5.7L fit on VZ HSV Senator?

they would but what size primary's - you would have an LS2 so I would recommend 1 3/4 minimum with 3in outlet

Pir4te,
I hear what your saying, I calculated the area of a twin 2 1/2 system and a 3" single and there is an insignificant difference , so I was thinking a good set of extractors , good quality Hi flow single 3" cat and a single 3" exhaust , just a thought , thats why I was looking for someone who has done it. I appreciate your input,

Pete

Circle Area = π × r2 and that's x 2 for twin exhausts... 3" single is 71% volume of twin 2.5".
Your engine makes more power than what the old V8s with single 3" can handle, at least 20% more, maybe 50%!!
Don't choke the chook, let her free!!
