VZ V8 SS 6.0
Hi there

I've just had the delight of being stranded after my starter motor decided to die on me.
Just wondering if $450 is an average price for and after market brand new part plus labour for my VZ SS V8
Or am I getting the damsel in distress price??

I just today got quoted $450 to have mine changed in my VZ too. apparently its 4 hours labour.
Still seems a little steep though!
Is it easy enough to DIY for someone who isn't a complete Revhead?

4 hours to change a starter motor? Can do it in 1. Unbolt the starter form underneath, remove the wiring, unbolt the RH exhaust manifold off the head, lever it up a bit. manouvre the starter out.

Much easier than removing the RH engine pipe and disconnecting the steering linkage.

Oh, and disconnect the battery first.

Dont forget to put the heat shield back on.... ;)...I went genuine for the starter , not a job I want to have to do again.
