Hey guys,

I'm up for rego and just broke my drivers seat in 2 spots, I'm thinking of replacing the seat completely, aside from wreckers, does anyone know anywhere that has SS or higher trim seats for sale (and is there anywhere that will fit the swap for me?) I can do the work, but need it for rego this week so happy to pay someone to install new seat. I have a half electric lumina seat now but would love to get something a bit beefier like SS or HSV style.
If the price is decent, might change both fronts to a matching set too.

Also, not sure if its possible, but could I just change the top parts of the passenger side seat over to get it passed at rego and then fix it properly how I want at my leisure?

I fitted VY SS seats to my VY Exec and it was straight plug and play. HSV would require a fair bit of wiring and work with the BCM. Go the SS for simplicity.

It takes quite literally, 10 minutes max to fit the seats. Held in by the 4 bolts down the bottom. Undo them, unplug the wiring, and reverse.

You can just change the back, takes a bit longer, but still very straight-forward.

Just make sure that whatever seats you change it with have the same safety features. So they all have seatbelt pretensioners, but if your Lumina has side-impact airbags, you must fit seats with them.

Check out eBay.

ebay and gumtree is the only way to go.

Wreckers will want way to much for the right seats.

only 4 bolts and a plug to change VZ to VZ of the same specs anywy.

Cheers guys, yeah, Gumtree is great from what i've seen, but most ads for parts are from wrecking yards anyway, there are a few that are guys doing their own dismantles tho.
Yeah, that was my thinking too Acarmody, thanks.
thought there might be a seat specialist in Sydney somewhere that would have styles in stock and do quick turnarounds. but prob end up doing it myself anyway. If it wasnt due for rego, I'd just live with it and take time to source parts at the right price. but, its gotta be done. (along with a couple of rear tyres.)

Just make sure that whatever you replace the seat with that it has identical ADR approval consistent with whatever existed at the time the vehicle was manufactured. If it's not an approved seat your vehicle is deemed as unroadworthy - for on-road usage. Check with appropriate authorities in YOUR State if unsure of legalities.

and if your seat is airbag equipped, remember to disconnect your battery and wait 15 mins so the airbag capacitor drains, before unplugging the airbag .

or it'll throw a code that requires a visit to tech2.
