Hey guys,

I want to remove the tongue from my towbar as I'm not regularly towing anything and it might make it a bit easier/less risky trying to squeeze into tight parking spots around town.
I couldn't find much info on this while searching, is it possible to remove? it looks like just these 2 bolts as pictured below to remove it?
Can anyone confirm? Also does anyone know if they need to be torqued to anything specific if I am re-attaching?

Cheers.

Yep just unbolt those. As for re torquing, pretty much as tight as you can get them with a good 1/2" drive breaker bar.

thanks for quick reply mate, will give it a go tomorrow. my main concern was that these might be doing more than just holding on the tongue.

As EYY said above.
Just those two bolts and the tongue will come off.
They are there ONLY for the tongue and do not serve any other purpose.

Edit: You might want to do a few bench presses before you take them off.
I'm betting they'll be a bugger to undo if they haven't been touched for a while.

Hmmm, I'm the opposite, I would rather have the bar there, comes in handy, especially when reversing up to brick walls where I park every day.

Also comes in handy when dipsticks decide to park too close to my rear, you know, the people who insist in moving into a park until their car touches yours.

Agree....
Also comes in handy in supermarket car parks, when you're loading the boot full
off shopping and you bang the crap out of your shin.
