Hi all

Over the last month or so, there is a creaking noise coming from the tailgate / cargo area of the wagon, only when going over bumpy roads. I've had the trims off the inside of the tailgate, checked everything in there, tightened up a couple of loose bits I found - but the sound is still there. It's getting pretty annoying - any suggestions appreciated.

check inside the side pocket where the jack lives. Wrap a rag around the jack and see if that muffles the sound:idea:

Hi Conrod

Very sensible suggestion - thankyou - but I removed the jack and basically everything I had in the back of the wagon. Totally stumped.

Certainly will do that.

Good suggestion but no, I don't have a cargo barrier. In fact this is the first car in which I have not fitted one.

Hi XioiX1983 - I had been giving thought to both of those things. What am I looking for with regard to the tail gate hinges?

Thanks and regards

Hit all the rubber below the deck with WD-40 (not the tyres, LOL). Will see if there's and difference tomorrow when I drive to work.

You are looking for any movement in the pins.
