My mum has a 2005 VZ wagon and when I try and start it makes a single 'click' noise nothing happens. Other days it starts no problem. When it doesn't start I would have to either take out the key and put it back or take out key and press the unlock button and then it will start. All power still works, no dim to light. Please help.

Thanks

I'm going to guess it is the key that is the issue. Could be going flat.

Or its not contacting the metal surround properly when its put in.
Are the screws on the key head done up tight?
Do you have another key you can try starting the car with.

I've had issues with my key, but it only happens every now and again, just got to lock and unlock the car then it works for me.

Get an Auto Electrician to check both the battery and starter motor.

My car has been doing exactly the same thing for the past few months.

I have a new battery, have replaced the start relay under the bonnet with no real improvement.

I'm now thinking it might be a relay somewhere else........perhaps one of the BCM ones?
