Wheel size legality.

I have a VZ Lumina, just wondering if you could confirm the legality of a wheel change I'm currently in the works of doing.

Going from standard lumina rims that are 235/45 R17

to 245/45 R18. That's legal rifht? Even without there being a size rating flr that style on the tyre placard?

I gather you are trying to fit VE rims, 235/40/18 is the size you will need.

legality depends on rolling tyre diameter.

tyre diameter can be increased by a maximum of 15mm, or decreased by a maximum of 25mm from whats on the tyre placard.

For a definitive answer in regard to legality, contact Vic Roads. They are the authorising and controlling body for motor vehicle compliance in Victoria.

Didnt think anyone really cared about wheel sizes. Hundreds of people around Aus with 19" or 20" wheels which are technically illegal on lower model Commodores. Never seem someone get pulled over for the size of their wheels. I wouldnt worry about it if I were you especially since its only an inch bigger.

so; contacted Holden, told them my predicament, i was informed this size rim and tyre would be fine, only issue would that i would have to roll my guards.

So i called my tyre fitter and we've agreed on 235's
