How does one remove the sump pan? All bolts are off and there seems to be this lever on the side that is getting in the way. Towards the front on the drivers side. This is in my avalanche.

I dunno how necessary it is to change that filter...i've read info from trans specialists saying that since a tranny is sealed from contaminants the only material to be filtered is some band or clutch material and by the time a filter is so clogged to need changing the clutches/bands are farked anyway so you may as well do an R&R

Generally you shouldnt see much wear particles generated in a properly looked after trans....some trannies dont even come with a filter for that reason.

Does anyone know for sure why the 4L60 would need its filter changed? Ive never done mine and shes sweet

Mine hasn't been too well looked after it would appear...the magnet was fuzzy. I'll post pics when I'm on a pc but it's not pretty
