So I been checking out the interior lights in my VZ and I found an LED festoon for my wife's BMW that's the same size as the glove box bulb. Anyway, I replaced the bulb in the globe box and proceeded to check out the boot light bulb when it went out.

all interior lights won't come on. dome/rear lights/glove box/centre console. headlights is still ok.

Any ideas on how to fix it? I thought of disconnecting the battery but there might be better ideas.

Thanks a lot

seems the problem could be a blown fuse reading another member's thread. But I've looked at the steering column and I cannot see a way of removing the plastic covering it. Any ideas?

thanks again

No. There are just metal clips up the top.
Sometimes, it can take a fair yank to release them.

You don't need to take out the plastic hinge pin as described above.
That's only if you need to remove the cover.
In your case, just let it swing down.

Also, if you replace the globe with power at the socket/clips,
it can cause a surge or a short, therefore blowing the fuse.

Firstly, ALWAYS isolate the power, by removing the fuse, or disconnecting the battery,
before replacing or working on any electrical component.
And ALWAYS ensure the component you were working on is OFF, before you re-connect the power.
Make sure the circuit is also isolated and components switched OFF before replacing fuses.

You will need the radio code, if you disconnect the battery.
Most times it will be in the front of the car's hand book.
The one usually in the glove box.

Changing globes only really requires either pulling the fuse first, or you can
get away with it, by switching the dome light off and or doing it with the doors closed (for the interior lights).
For the boot and glove box, pulling the fuse is sufficient.
