Posting for my Brother in Law,

Has a VZ V6 Alloytec Ute thats done 190k,

Tried to start it and the battery was flat, charged the battery, had it tested and the battery is perfect. It'll turn over normally but not fire. Called mobile mechanic who hooked it up to his small computer and found an issue with the ecu and bcm not linking. Couldn't fix it on his little machine. Checked the fuel pressure and there's definitely fuel coming through. Took it back to his workshop, hooked it up to the tech2 computer and managed to relink the bcm and ecu, continued testing and can't find any other issues. Has spark, and fuel and no leaks around the manifold at all.

As a last resort, He's going to do have a look at the timing on Monday to see if that's out by enough to cause the issue.

Ive seen another post about holding the accelerator and turning it over but not sure if that applys to this?

Anyone have any other thoughts or second opinions?, Timing chain has been quoted for a fairly decent amount to replace so want to be pretty sure thats it.

holding the accelerator fully down on startup is for flood mode, itl help start the car if the engine is flooded which could happen when you continually try turning it over. try leaving the ignition set to on for 45minutes which will bypass the immobiliser. then try starting it. it may be neccesary to keep the accelerator pinned as discussed to clear the flood. had a similar issue the other day. I would also look at the IAC valve which is where im up to now and clean it and the throttle body at the same time. if the IAC is stuck closed it could cause the car to stall or be difficult to start. hope this helps.
