Hey there everybody been having a few dramas with an intermittent problem on my girlfriends car. It will drive fine for months on end then decide to stop on us. It has been stalling mainly at low speeds, sometimes directly after had issues starting again. . Also sometimes at highway speeds when you accelerate it sometimes has a miss, although im unsure if thats related. When the miss under acceleration got very bad- which i noticed when on holiday- i dont drive the car much myself and it rarely goes on the highway its just probably more noticeable there- i noticed that one of the air hoses next to the throttlebody was almost broken in half, so i did a bodgy repair with insulation tape which seemed to have fixed it. i have since replaced it with cut down coolant hose which fits quite well. but the problem has come back.
recently it wouldnt start so we connected a scan tool and found some codes- slip rings was one and can bus another. i checked the CAN BUS and got 60 ohms across terminals so seems ok.
Had the ignition lock replaced as the key was able to move away from the lock breaking contact with the slip ring which I thought could be why it was dropping out and reset all the codes with the scan tool. The next day it was stalling again and i got these codes.

P2088: intake camshaft position control solenoid circuit low voltage
P2092: intake camshaft position control solenoid circuit low voltage
P0261 : injector 1 control circuit low voltage
P0264 : injector 2 control circuit low voltage
P0267 : injector 3 control circuit low voltage
P0270 : injector 4 control circuit low voltage
P0273 : injector 5 control circuit low voltage
P0276 : injector 6 control circuit low voltage
P0458 :Evap Emission control system purge solenoid low voltage

I have not had any of these codes before apart from i think the P0458 which is the purge solenoid.I have a list written down from last time i checked codes but i will have to find it.

once cleared the codes didnt come back. I'm unsure what is causing this best guess is an intermittent bad earth/ dirty plug or at worst module failure?

only seems to happen at low speed/ under braking ie turning off the road into a shop carpark etc.

yea with the scantool we are unable to communicate with the camshaft sensors at all. so most likely CAN BUS or ECU? the scantool we have is able to link ECU's etc my mate has one - auto sparky but specialises in drill rigs etc first time working on a fault like this. I think we will get another ECU link them and try to connect to the camshaft sensors?
didnt realise how complex the control systems on these cars are sensors for everything. seems overcomplicated. but i guess it makes finding certain faults alot easier.

so we sent the computers + key fob away to get bench tested and apparently they are fine. quite frustrating trying to figure out just wtf is going on here. i was really hoping that there would be something wrong and thus an easy fix.- when i get it - sorta- running again i will bring it home and check the engine loom + earths and double check the alternator i guess since all the fault codes are to do with sensors/ circuits there...

update. when we sent the computers away we also sent a spare ecu from another car. as it was it was useless as these have to be linked to the other computers, and part of the proccess involves unlinking before removal. anyways, the spare ecu was somehow programmed at the same time the rest were bench tested. when we got them back, as usual we had problems with it dropping out. however, when we changed out original ecu for the spare reprogrammed ecu so far so good. we thought it was the ECU because all the fault codes relate to functions from here. the reprogramed computer was also pre linked for us so it was a straight plug in play. The work was done via injectronics who only deal through repco. the downside to this is that you have to send your computers away and wait for us around two weeks. the upside is that you wont be paying anywhere near what holden charges for a new computer. hope this helps someone.

have you done the coils? this may not apply to your situation but 99% of the time its coils that make the vzs stall or miss.

HA HA clean your throttle body, even though you are getting those codes whats happening is your throttle body is that full of GUNK it is sending different codes to your ECU making you think you have a major problem, it is sending all these codes because your air fuel mixture is not right, cars need three things air, fuel and spark and all you do is work on those scenarios we now its getting fuel we know its getting spark, so clean your throttle body, another cause that this happens are clogged fguel injectors which should be replaced to be real every couple of years and transmissions can also cause stalling if not serviced, so I am fully putting it on your throttle body is filled with garbage and even the plennum chamber which is one of the most overlooked things
