I was towing a trailer and switched the pwr button and about 5 seconds later there was a loud knock sound from the engine, as that happened the check oil warning came on, i pulled over and as doing so the car died, i decided to get out and check oil level which to my surprise was fine considering what had just happened, I decided to let the engine cool down for about half an hour or so then tried to start it. I turned it over not only did it not start but the loud knocking sound was still there, the car has driven fine leading up to this so i have absolutely no idea what is happening with it, can someone please give me some answers??

You can start by checking the Harmonic Balancer. If/when the internal rubber supports fail, the balancer can produce a very loud knocking noise and often cause the engine to shake and vibrate. Good luck.
