Hey ya'll. Not sure whats going on but I'm getting belt slip or something from the engine in my VZ V6 Auto trans. Usually from low gears at hard throttle say 1st to 2nd mainly but it'll do it on the highway at WOT out of over drive to 3rd. I'm not 100% sure what the issue is, like I'm thinking it's the belts but would appreciate any tips or whatever. Thanks

belt stretched, check your tensioner, possibly pulley starting to fail

If the engine drive belt is stretched/cracked investigate its replacement as per MYVESSV8 above.

If you are talking about the 4 speed (?) auto can you clarify please?
Have the mandatory services been performed?

Are there any DTCs if you get a scan done/

Yep, 4 speed auto. No faults have appeared either? Has a comprehensive service history. I just had the coil packs done and my mechanic didn't say anything.... I looked in the engine and I'm quite confused on what belts what? I'm lost....

The V6 has only one (1) engine drive belt. It is located at the front of the engine. See below for a picture. Good luck.

Wow. Thanks for the picture. I'll let off the tensioner and have a look at the belt. Cheers mate :)

keep pic handy so you can see how to put back on, you only need one spanner/square drive to release the tension, have a look at the tension mark/indicator to see if needs doing

If you go to the trouble of removing the drive belt there are pictures somewhere on this site which show the "permitted" surface crack density and spacing, and lengths of longitudinal splits permitted.
I have yet to replace my original VZ belt. No cracks or splits.

Looking at the tensioner get some white paint and paint the pointer and the scale graduations. All you need to do at any time is light the area with a torch and the tensioner can be checked very quickly if you think the belt is slipping etc.

Found a bit of stuff on cracks in the belt for VR VS engines, but principles are the same.

I also have the same problem, only happens to me in first gear changing to second gear (4 speed auto v6). Car is only 49000 kms old and genuinely has not been thrashed at all. Any ideas or would it most likely be the loosening of the belt for my car as well? Cheers
