hello guys,

I'm a backpacker from Taiwan and now looking for buying a car.

I saw a 05 VZ Calais is selling on FB.

It is V6 3.6L 259xxxkms automatic rego till feb and the price is $3400

May I ask yours opinion is this car worth to buy? Thank you.

Geez, how long is a piece of string with knots in it ?
The price is cheap, but is it roadworthy and reliable ? What repairs may be required.? How long do you intend to use it ? I don’t think anyone can give you the advice you need from what you have written.
A better place to look than FB is carsales.com.au. That will give you an idea of prices, Kms travelled, etc.

I wouldn't touch a V6 with those km's.

Price seems cheap enough, kms are on the high side, but for the money it's what you would expect. It is a purchase that comes with risks, but then again so does any car for $3400

That's true. Although price is cheap, high kms is the point I considered.
Maybe I'll have an inspection and test drive first.

I'd rather buy a smaller car with less Kms to get something more reliable, unless you really need a car that size or plan on doing a lot of highway and feel more secure in a bigger car.

If they are looked after properly then they are OK. Cousin in law has one going on 300 000 kms and it's still good but he's also been bang on with servicing. At higher km's though there's less and less guarantee every service has been done at the right time.

You're right. I just need a car drive to work everyday. The distance from my home to factory is only 10 kms oneway. The moment which I need to drive highway is sometimes I go to Brisbane maybe once a month.
