Ive got my suspension apart and looked into a few bushes that commonly go on these front ends and got to the strutbar bush in the crossmember and wondered if there is a way of telling if it needs replacing...from the outside there doesnt seem to be anything wrong with it.

If they are out there's no point putting them back in, they aren't even expensive.

It's rubber, rubber ages. If it's original than it's well past it's best.

not only that, now that he's pulled it all apart it will need a wheel alignment (I hope you are aware of this OP) and then they wear out in however long and then that's another wheel alignment, last I checked these are what $60-70?

They affect castor and they cant be adjusted easily...what can be adjusted front end wise for wheel alignment only toe in and camber and what ever they can squeeze out of the crossmember holes by slewing the whole crossmember.
My car has never had a wheel alignment and its never worn tyres unevenly and tracks fine..... steers fine
I didnt just think one day I might pull by front end apart for fun ...its because the engine sludged up and I needed to take the sump off to clean so I had to drop the crossmember.

Adjust caster by adding spacers infront and behind the bush on the Z bar.

The only way really to tell if that caster bush is worn is to put it back in place....From there, grab a screw driver and lever between the washer and front K-frame and see if there is movement in the bush....Or alternatively, with a 2nd person beside the car, drive forward or back wards and brake hard, then see if the wheel moves back or forward.....

If you have no movement with either method, the bush will be fine....There will be no need for a wheel alignment, as the caster will be exactly the same, therefore the camber and toe....

Only if you replace them, would it be necessary to have an alignment done, as the caster would have changed slightly, there changed the toe slightly.
