Hi,

Today i look into the radiator and there is a thick oil sludge in to the radiator. Is is very thick that what make me more worried..

My car is not never over heated. not heating temperature needle is not even in the middle.

There is no traces of water in the engine.

I think my head gas-kit is gone but there is no sign of water in the engine.

Please give some suggestion.

Is the oil engine or gearbox oil?

I think either oil can appear in the radiator - if the head gasket etc has failed and/or the transmission oil cooler pipes in the radiator have cracked or corroded.
Might to pay to check the auto out also. There is no dipstick for the 5 speed auto so its a bit difficult to check.

Best of luck.

Hi again,
The auto gearbox oil level is checked with the car elevated, eg. on a hoist and held level with the gearbox hot and the engine idling - then the oil level is "correct" at the filler hole.
I have never done this, as I take my car to a trusted mechanic and hope for a true appraisal.

Maybe members of the site can comment on the smell or colour of the sludge in the radiator fluid to give you an idea of the "oils'" source.

Cheers

When was the last time the coolant was flushed and replenished?
Was a good quality glycol based anti freeze/boil used - if ever?
Are you forever topping up coolant?
Has your coolant system been pressure tested?

It's unusual to get water based sludge in your coolant system without corresponding milky oil as a blown head gasket would suggest.
Take it on a decent non-city run and give everything a chance to evaporate - both crankcase and coolant galleries.
Take spare fluids - just in case.

Maybe try doing this and observing the results before hitting the "WTF" button and handing over your hard-earned.

Take your car to an Auto Transmission Specialist for diagnosis. The oil could be as a result of the transmission cooler leaking ito the radiator coolant. I suggest you don't drive around too much until you have it checked. If you are a member of an Auto Club (RACV, NRMA, RACQ etc) call them for a Mobile Patrol to attend your location. They could give you a good idea of the problem at no cost. Good luck.

Hi Guys,

I just take my car to one mechanic he was saying it the blown head gaskit, but i couldnt believe this since car is not heating up at all.
no signs of water in engine room or on the gauge from where we check engine oil. engine sound is solid.. Because i had experience the blown head gaskit 2 3 times and it wasnt like this.

Then i take my car to another mechanic and he check the oil and says this it the transmission oil the cooler part for transmission oil at the bottom of the radiator is break or got whole so tomorrow i will change the radiator and flushed all the oil fuild then lets see what happened.

Thanks guys for the help..
