I have an 06 sedan with a L76 motor in it that sounds like a ####ing diesel

Everyone is saying it's noisy lifters and I tend to agree with that. I'm not really willing to pull the heads off to get this fixed at this point in time however (hopefully putting a cam in next year and will sort it out then)

Anyway the engine has 120k on the clock, a mate of mine who happens to be a diesel mechanic reckons put thicker oil in the engine (mainly due to the mileage but also to hopefully quiet it down a bit)

Done a couple of searches on here and google and people are saying they use up to 10-60 in the same or similar engine. Personally I never trusted to watery 5-30 holden call for, but I ave been using it every service.

Anyone had a similar experience or able to recommend any oils? Any info you have is appreciated

Cheers

Mine ticked worse with 25w50 (put in by mistake from mechanic) than 10w60. I got a cam installed, but ironically the valvetrain is noisier than before haha.
