My partners vz has just developed a clunky noise in engine and then it dumped a whole heap of water from underneath

what was happening at the time, did the car overheat?
where did the water come from (can you see?), how long did the chunky noise go for?
Is the water reservoir empty?
Does the car still run?

Sounds like the water pump shattered the bearing out and the seals ripped to shreds.
