g'day I just got my hands on a sv6 at low revs it's very whinery not untill 80 i can feel the diference,is this normal. is there any thing i can do,or is that the way they are.helpful info needed thanks. stv
I had a slow oil/fluid leak in the power steering setup of my V6. The whinning sound at first was from low fluid levels. When the fluid was topped up the whining sound mostly disappeared. Under warranty Holdens replaced the power steering pump just in case there was any damaged caused to the internals of the pump which may be causing the noise that you experience.
is it manual???? all of the new gearboxes seem to whine 4 some reason
Hi
Did you have the air cond going at the time? Mine makes a"whinning" sound
when the air is on and up until about 80 kph. Seems to disappear after about 10 minutes of running the air cond. Try turning it off and see if it makes a difference? I also agree with the other comment, that the auto boxes are noisey..............? Funny really, in that it wasn't in the X5 I had prior to this...............same gearbox?????? Go figure?

yeah they all make that whining thing mate, just let her do her thing its totally normal.. not that Holden should have let them sound like it, but thats just the way they are. anyway but yeh its totally normal for vz IMO.
Check the PS fliud, mine did that and one of the clamps was a little loose and was loosing fluid
Is it coming from the passenger seat?
the clamps just infront of the sway bar on the drivers side ? the ones that connect the hoses to the oil cooler .... if so i had the same thing ... noticed oil under the car and it was all wet and dirty around it!!Originally Posted by ash sv6
