Hi, new to this forum. Been searching but can't find any related topics.
I have a grinding feeling through the car when I'm reversing my boat up the driveway. Can't actually hear anything from the driver's seat. The grinding feeling seems like its something rotating - it grabs then a few seconds later it grabs again. I'm only going v slow at the time but it's a bit of a push up hill. Never get it any other time - only reversing under load. Can't pin it down to exactly where it's coming from as it's only slight and I'm always alone.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Does your vehicle make the noise when reversing up the driveway WITHOUT the boat attached ?

Hi,

This is probably obvious but if you have override brakes on the boat trailer, you need to lock them out before reversing. Otherwise you are pushing against the trailer brakes.

On a similar vein, maybe the trailer brakes are catching when reversing.

Just a thought.

Thanks for all the comments. Trailer brakes are electric/hydraulic not over-ride. Shudder definitely feels like in the car not transferring through tow hitch. No issue when reversing up a hill without trailer so it appears to be only when there's a load to push.

Haven't done the oil change yet but will do next week - hopefully.
