engine rattle & rough idle

Hi guys, am needing help with our VZ. when left for a couple of days, you can hear a rattle when you start it and also we have a rough idle but only when idling. no missing when driving or when a/c is on. Any ideas as to what it could be as we really don't want to spend 2k on the timing chain if we don't have to. thanks.

low oil, need changing, plugs, vac hose leak, the L shaped hose right at the font and on the left (looking at engine) not split, fuel purge solenoid maybe

Have done all but the purge solenoid. am trying that one now. could it be that the timing chain is stretched as that seems to be where the rattle is coming from. thanks
