We have a VZ Adventra. All other lights on the car are working perfectly except we have no brake lights. Hubby is just about tearing his hair out trying to work out what the problem is. We have tried another 2 brake light switches (bought from wreckers). The car is not blowing any fuses and the tail lights, indicators, reverse lights work fine. Checked the wiring in the back door and no sign of any broken wires. Replaced bulbs. Wondering if maybe the relay under the bonnet may have something to do with it, although the voltmeter tells us there is power at the switch. Even help with a wiring diagram so we have something to follow. Any ideas?

1. Check the plugs in the lights to ascertain their condition. The contact points MAY have a build up of 'gunk' or whatever you may wish to call it.

2. Check the globes to ensure they are NOT blown

3. With the aid of a 'tell tale' light or multimeter, check the voltage (if any) at the stop lights with globes removed.

Silly question but check they are correct globes with 2 filaments, and the upper and lower bayonet lugs are aligned correctly in the sockets.

The high mounted brake light isn't working either. The bulbs are dual filament and the tail lights are working fine. We may just have to use the voltmeter and follow the wiring until we can find where the problem is. It's not going to be an easy job.
