Had ordered a compartment to put in place of the drinks compartment and was told that it wouldn't fit, but have also been told it would, any more opinions?

For a VZ SS Ute.

I've seen them in Calais, Monaros, Statesman, Berlinas, never seen them in an SS though, so do they fit or not? Would really like to put one in, but no good if it won't fit though.

I already answered your question in your thread http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/vz-holden-commodore-2004-2006/255075-my05-vz-ss-ute-work.html and you're asking it again in another thread. If you were still unsure, you could have messaged me here.

Where the cupholder rubbers sit is completely different shape to the console compartment box. I asked this question in my thread ages ago http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/vy-holden-commodore-2002-2004/249308-compartment-box-centre-console.html. If you looked at the photos closely, you will see it's a different shape. If you put in the compartment box where your cupholder is, it will simply wont fit. It will rattle around & you wont be able to open/close them properly.

The compartment box was an option but I do know it was standard in the Calais. It's just not the box only. You need to have a different centre console to fit the box as it has clips on the sides & a bit of plastic cut out to hold it as shown in the photo in my thread. If you do not believe me (again) go to to your local Holden Dealer Spares section & ask them to get the diagrams up on their system. They will be happy to help. Just after a quick search, the console box listed on eBay is $124 & the centre console plastic that will hold it is about $80-$90. Want to save some money? In the image below is a small bit of rubber (marked as number 2) that sits on there perfectly for about $10 & does not move nor rattle. It's still safe enough to carry the odd coin or remote.

In this photo, this is what your centre console should look like IF you have a compartment box. Look very carefully. If you don't have this configuration, then dont buy it.

Before you go on an eBay shopping spree, check with your Holden Dealer Spares section to see the price & if they have it in stock. It'll surprise you the price difference between Holden & a seller on eBay. Plus if it's not the right part or you need advice, someone from Holden will tell you instead of some seller on eBay who is dubious as there might not be a return policy. I deal with specialised sellers on eBay only rather than individuals.

There's also the google search engine on the top right hand corner. Use it, it's very helpful as someone may have asked this question before than start another thread which will have the answer. If you don't believe other forum members here on JC who have had the same experience, then you can find out the hard way wasting your time & money. The idea of this forum is to share ideas, find solutions to problems so we can all benefit to keep our Holdens going.

Just to follow up on Risky, I've had two SS Ute's, a VY and a VZ. Neither of them had that set up in the image. See those big square holes in the middle, neither had those. Pretty sure they might be what you need to hold the compartment correctly?

However, this is the internet. And sometimes information is just wrong. The ultimate way to tell if it will fit is to make the purchase, try it for yourself.

Worst case, you're out some postage $$ maybe.

Best case, take pictures and prove it. #feelsgoodman and all that.

Ease up Risky, I know you said it didn't but I've got a couple people telling me they do, so thought I'd ask again and get other people's opinions.

OK, here is a photo.

Risky, no need to have a go, I know you said no it won't fit, I emailed the seller and he hasn't gotten back to me yet, two mates of mine said it would fit, so thought I'd get on here and use the forum like it's meant for and ask for some more opinions.

Looks the same to me! Should be a winner for it then. I may have to go re-check mine... I don't have the bluetooth button though... Neither of my SS's did. Wonder if that's because yours is a Quicksilver upgrade? Might also be why your console is different?

Though I like the cup holders, I use them ALOT.

Was an optional upgrade I believe. Though can be put in aftermarket also. Who knows! There are lots of little things Holden did that differentiates between models etc. Best of luck with it!
