Does anyone know what brand timing chains would be best to use for a replacement , I've been looking at the mace engineering timing chain kit just wondering if anyone has gotten these chains and if they're any good, or if yous know what the best brand is, cheers...

Hi I've used the mace kit and they are a similar kit to the austral kit with factory bottom morse chain and DID top roller chains. They use factory tensioners and aftermarket guides and aftermarket gaskets. ... Some of your old bolts are reused ...Did chains are made in Japan and have a good reputation in the industry... especially in motor cycles ... You can look them up .... Their price was reasonable and they are more helpful over the phone than other people offering a similar thing ... And they can do deals for just commodore members... At least that's why I used them.... Their oil pumps were half the price of factory if you were going to get one from them.... I put a oil pressure gauge in the car permanently to monitor oil pressure and it runs over 60 lbs over 2500 revs so the pump looks good but I had a oil pickup drama and wanted to give my alloytec the best chance of not destroying itself.

I'm looking at doing the following
25mm spacer
Water pump
Oil pump
Spark Plugs
Timing Chain kit
TIMING CHAIN SERVICE KIT
camshaft tool
Power pulley kit
From Mace and a Mantra cat back duel 2&1/4 into a 3"
Just wondering if there is any "special tools" I need

You need something to pull the balancer off like a 2 or3 arm pulley and a old belt to lockup the pulley to undo the centre bolt ... I found a couple of long bolts with the heads cut off the same thread size as the original timing cover bolts to help guide on the cover straight and square so the grey silicone does its job .

Sounds like you found it, what other options look good?
I've seen genuine kits quite cheap recently which was surprising. Same price as they want for a radiator at Holden!
