Hi guys,

I have had this unusual issue occur with me 3 times within a 3 year time period of owning my SV6 so far.

For no apparent reason, when driving in rainy conditions, it seems as though I can't turn off my wipers when it stops raining, the only way I have managed to stop them is pull out the wiper fuse while driving.

The first time it occurred, it seemed to have fixed itself after a couple of hours, second time it happened it was fixed after 2 days, but now it has been occurring for the past 4 hours and has not been fixed yet.

I have replaced the wiper stalk with 2 other different stalks, but made no difference.

Anybody seem to know what is causing this weird issue?????

First things first- swap the wiper relay under the bonnet with one of the others and see if that solves it.

Ok, I will try, but so far it has automatically started working fine again, I would have no idea when it can occur.

Mate! Stop using the wipers when indicating at intersections.

That's interesting, my VZ doesn't have a wiper relay under the bonnet (not in the main Fuse holder box anyway), where would i find it?

It's powered by the accessory control relay in the fuse panel under the steering wheel.

I take it your horn, radio etc all work fine?

Have you removed the wiper cowl to inspect the wiper motor and its wiring harness that comes through from the engine bay?

Use the attached files to sort it.
There is too much to be able to write out.

Follow the diagnostic flow chart.
I'd say you have covered most of the prelim tests.

Inspect the column wiring for any obvious damage after the switch plug.

Aha, the accessory control relay, that narrows it down, will have a check of that before i try to get into the BCM, thanks again.

The only thing the relay in the BCM does is control the intermittent function of 8 seconds.

If you have an issue with not being able to switch it off, you need to go through the diagnostic flow chart provided in the two pdf’s I posted.

Going into the BCM chasing a hunch isn’t going to yield great outcomes.

Flow the diagnostic flow chart.

My hunch is a stuffed wiper motor but that can only be proven by following the diagnostic flow chart provided.
