Fan Resistor

So my fan has been cutting out quite often on speeds one,two and three I removed the fan resistor to check for this wire that you are meant to solder if that is the problem but I can't find what I'm meant to solder?

I just happen to have a new one here, looks a bit diffrent to yours but . The only thing i can see to solder would be 1 of those copper conections

the older style had 3 wire coil resistors and you would solder the broken one, you may find the s/s one is failing
