Hi Guys,my wife is buying me the new 30gb Ipod for my birthday soon and I have done some reading regagrding using this with the Blaupunkt head unit. Is there a solution to using your Ipod with the standard head unit other than buying an aftermarket head unit or one of those Itrip type devices? If not which is the best Itrip - FM transmitter styled device from your experiences? I have heard that some are really crappy with major interferance unless you are in the country?
Cheers
Jason
Any FM transmitter for an iPod should work fine. It won't make difference where you are as long as there is nothing else being broadcast on the frequency your iPod transmitter is transmitting on...
read phreddys thread in the car stereo forum. he has made a mod for the factory head unit![]()
Steer clear of the transmittor if you want quality sound. Get the "phreddy" mod and you will never look back! This may have to be via postage due to some ?"%$hole harrassing Phreddy![]()
Yes i have a phreddy enhanced 6 stacker. Havnt in stalled yet but)-:
Cool, thanks guys
Anyone got a pic of these modified 6 stackers?
From the front there is no difference to the head unit. The changes are internal and phreddy has made the rca outputs auto plug-in so that the head unit can be removed just like normal.Originally Posted by VX_KN079
Phreddy installs a 3.5mm plug input and button in the centre console on the blank plate behind the window controls.
In the photo you can just see the red button in the centre console.
Hmmm... I'm a little confused. So there are now RCA plugs on the back of the unit ready to run to the amp/speakers of my own chosing? And what's the red button for?
Oh and phreddy, I have to say I LOVE the job you do on the lighting. When I get my VE can you put me down for converting everything to red please?
Sorry, I didn't mean to cause more confusion!
Phreddy includes an additional plug in the back of the headunit, alongside the standard one. He then adds the mating plug to the headunit casing, from which there are low level cables with RCA plugs, ready to plug into an amp although I plugged it into RCA extension leads and put the amp in the boot). There is also a signal wire for the amp, so it powers up with the headunit.
The button is required so that the standard headunit signal (radio or cd) is over-ridden by the MP3 signal, when the button is "on". There is no reason why this couldn't be placed in a more strategic location if you did not want it seen. Phreddy could feed the wiring to wherever you would want it.
Nothing left to do but enjoy it![]()
